My Background
My name is Jes (they/she), and I'm an artist and teacher. My pottery journey began in the mid-90's in Arizona. My mother was always looking for classes for me to try and working with clay stuck. After completing my education, I returned to pottery in 2008, purchased my first wheel, and haven't looked back since. I established this business in 2016, selling at local events, got a kiln last year, and now I have an official website!
Currently I teach at the Kirkland Arts Center in WA, and work out of my home studio in Woodinville, WA.
The name for my business, Wheel Deal Pottery, is a play on words related to my love for clay AND my work as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
My Medium
I have gravitated toward crafting wheel-thrown functional pottery, with an emphasis on high-fire reduction kiln work. After purchasing a kiln for my home studio, my work has recently evolved to include more slab and texture work and working in low, mid, and high fire kiln environments.
